Arrival at the international airport of Vienna-Schwechat |
Vienna international airport is located about 16 km south-east of Vienna. The journey time to Vienna is approx. 15 - 30 min. depending on the means of transport (train, bus ort taxi). Keep in mind that the actual jouney time may also depend on the traffic conditions, if you are going by bus or taxi.
When you have arrived in Vienna you can use the public means of traffic of Vienna.
The most comfortable way to get to the city from the airport is the non stop City Airport Train (CAT) direct to the City Air Terminal (Wien Mitte) near Hotel Hilton (Am Stadtpark / Landstrasser Hauptstrasse, 3 rd district) where taxis and public transportation (underground lines U3, U4) are available. The CAT takes only 16 minutes to the heart of Vienna, the fare is Euro 10,00.* (Euro 9,00* if you pre-book online)
You cn check in and obtain your boarding card at the City Air Terminal at Wien Mitte for Star Alliance, Air Berlin and NIKI flights. Check-in is possible from 24 hours up to 75 minutes prior to departure.

Public transport to the city center is also provided by frequent
bus connections (Vienna
Airport Lines) to Vienna
Schwedenplatz/Morzinplatz (underground lines U1 and U4) every 30 minutes
and to the famous UNO-City
(the Vienna International Centre) every 60 minutes.
Buses leave the airport outside
the arrival building, travelling time is about 20 minutes (40 minutes
UNO-City), the fare is Euro 6,00. *
The frequent bus shuttle is also provided every 20
minutes to the major train stations, the train station west (Westbahnhof, underground line u6) and the train station south (Suedbahnhof). Since 13th of Dec., 2009 this line is routed via Vienna Meidling (stop "Dörfelstraße", underground line u6) due to the closure of the train station "Südbahnhof". The S7 is the regional railroad connection every 30 minutes of the Austrian Federal Railways ÖBB between the Vienna International Airport and Vienna, the fare is Euro 3,40.* The journey time from and to the station Wien Mitte / Landstraße is about 24 min respectively, because the S7 stops at several stations along the way.
You have good access to the public transport network of Vienna at the stations Wien Mitte / Landstraße (underground lines U3 and U4), Wien Nord / Praterstern (underground line U1) and Handelskai (underground line U6).

Bratislava Airport is located 65 km from the center of Vienna. A bus takes you to Südtiroler Platz (U1) in approximately 2 hours. Single ride: 7.70 €*, round-trip ticket 14.30 €* (the first two pieces of luggage cost € 1* each, each additional one € 2*).
The train from the main train station in Bratislava (hlavná stanica) to Vienna’s South Railway Station (eastern terminal) runs from 7:50 am until 11:50 pm almost every hour, trip time between 60 and 90 minutes. The 61 bus line commutes every 10 to 20 minutes from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm from the airport to the main station, trip time 25 minutes.

We may kindly inform you that there is a short
parking zone in the old city of Vienna and the surrounding districts
1-9 and 20) from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm on all workdays. District 15 around the Vienna Stadthalle is a limited parking zone everday betwenn 6:00 and 11:00 pm. Parking here requires a valid parking permit placed behind
the windshield from the first minute one. The signs indicating the short
stay parking zones are posted only as you enter these districts. In shopping
streets, days of validity and maximum lenghts of stay may vary.
It might also be difficult to find a parking space in the center. Alternatively
we would recommend to park your car in one of the several public

Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) offer a well developed railway network and modern trains that carry you to Vienna in safety and comfort. Vienna can also be easily reached by train from further afield.

In Vienna there are two major train stations - train
station west (Westbahnhof) and train
station south (Suedbahnhof).
From both stations you will have access to public transport (underground
lines U6 and U3 from the train station west, and next to the train station
south underground line U1 from Suedtirolerplatz). A frequent bus shuttle
to the airport (Vienna Airport Services) is provided every 30 minutes.
The international railroad traffic to Western and Northern Europe, like Germany, Swiss or France, is carried out mostly via the Vienna West Station.
Please note: Some of Vienna's train stations are currently undergoing redevelopment.
Since 13th of Dec., 2009 the train station Suedbahnhof is closed, as the station hall as well as platforms 11-19 will be barred. East-bound traffic (Vienna Südbahnhof Ostbahn) as well as the suburban rail (S-Bahn) continue as before. Rail traffic will continue via provisionary routes and with provisionary halt - the international railroad traffic to Southern and Eastern Europe is carried out mostly via the station Wien Meidling (underground line u6).
